Being adaptable is important to me.  Life throws many curve balls at me. Schedule changes happen that are out of my control.  Others behave in ways that are unexpected. Even situations like weather and traffic can have a profound effect on me. It pleases me to know that I am flexible.

To be adaptable is to have personal values that don’t change. When outside forces attempt to alter my plans, rather than getting frustrated or angry, I accept and consider alternative ways to meet my goals, and allow myself a few minutes to consider the change by pondering the effects of my day.

When I show my ability to be adaptable, I set a good example for others. By being flexible, I also make things easier for everyone involved. I know that others sometimes act in ways that keep me from doing something I want to do. I am flexible enough to realize that others can choose to do whatever they like.

I can only control my own behavior. Today, I adjust to any unseen situation that arises. It is important to be adaptable because my life is less stressful when I am flexible. I am confident I can handle anything because of my ability to adapt.

Self-Reflection Questions:
1. When did I recently show adaptability in a situation?

2. How do I usually respond when there is an unexpected change to
my schedule or plans?

3. What can I do to increase my ability to adapt to changing situations?
